In celebration of the cooler season, we are featuring a Pumpkin Risotto Recipe from Chef Marta Ciappi to warm you up. This healthy fall recipe can be made vegan without adding butter or cheese. The pureed pumpkin is creamy on its own and creates a great texture without the need of dairy. View the full recipe here.

And don't think I haven't forgotten about the wine! Complete this meal with your choice of my top recommendations below.

#1 Buena Vista Winery
2018 Sonoma County Chardonnay

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winery’s founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique, small-production wines that honor the winery’s pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking. These Curated Collections ares mall-lot wines chosen by Jean-Charles Boisset exclusively for the Boisset Ambassador program. Available for a limited time, each wine is crafted by our winemakers to deliver thehighest quality for the price. This limited-edition wine has been hand-selected by Jean-Charles Boisset to capture the style and excellence of the Boisset Collection’s portfolio of premium wineries.

These very special wines are produced in quantities of 500 or fewer cases and are exclusively offered through our Boisset Collection Ambassadors.

This charming white wine opens with aromas of green apple and pear with a touch of toasty caramel. Layered flavors of marzipan and mango are balanced with bright citrus notes. This is a well-structured and delightful Chardonnay with a subtle creaminess on the finish.

The grapes for this 2018 Chardonnay come from Sonoma County, where warm days and cool nights allow for rich flavor development and maturation. The grapes were hand harvested in the earlier morning hours on September 13 and 17 to retain freshness and were aged for 8 months in 20% new French oak before being bottled.

This wine will pair well with the Pumpkin Risotto. It will also go nicely with sautéed Petrale Sole, Delicate White Fish or Poultry Dishes, as well as light cheeses.

Tech Notes:

  • Appellation: Sonoma County

  • Alcohol: 13.5%

  • pH: 3.52

  • Titratable Acidity: 5.9g/L

  • Aging: 8 months

    • 20% New French oak

#2 2018 BOURGOGNE LES URSULINES

With a pale and brilliant yellow color, this wine reveals all the richness of this hot vintage! Aromas of white flowers, honey, ripe fruit and some buttery notes. Minerality and tension balance out this rich, fruit-filled palette. A very fine vintage indeed!

#3 2019 Petaluma Gap Riesling

The 2019 Petaluma Gap Riesling jumps from the glass with aromas of white peach, fresh pineapple, and ginger spice. On the palate the wine is bursting with flavors of apricot, pear, and wet stone. This wine is beautifully balanced with bright acidity and subtle minerality with a mouthwatering finish.

I love hearing feedback. Let me know how your dish turned out and which wine you paired with the pumpkin risotto.

Cheers!
