National Pinot Noir Day

Someone has decided that August 18 is National Pinot Noir Day. Ok. Sounds good to me!

But I’m not sure why this magnificent grape, which is used to produce some of the most amazing wines in the world, is relegated to having a single day dedicated to its appreciation!

I love Pinot Noir. And there are so many ways to enjoy it.

Pinot Noir is the grape used to make the amazing red wines from Burgundy. These are strictly classified and range in intensity and flavor characteristics. Our 2018 Volnay from Vougeraie has aromas of red fruit with notes of vanilla from its oak aging. This pairs well with chicken and meat dishes, as well as with medium cheeses.

Closer to home, our 2017 DeLoach Anderson Valley Pinot Noir has a rich, full mouthfeel and is juicy on the palate with flavors of black raspberry and plum. The balance of fruit, acid and alcohol make this a very quaffable wine. It pairs well with grilled meat and vegetable dishes.

And let’s not forget the sparklers!

The JCB #69 Sparkling Brut Rosé is my go-to sparkler. This French Brut is light and refreshing. The bubbles are small and beautiful and this wine goes with anything… or nothing at all! But be careful -- this goes down so easily, which makes it our featured wine for National Pinot Noir Day.
